Hi, so before I rush off for work, I'll just update my blog. Apparently yesterday in the United States, it was National Waffle Day so here's my post about the waffles at Salted Caramel Cafe!

Last Friday, I met Viv (finally, after a million years). We had seen this list of Singapore's Best 12 Waffles on Ladyironchef's blog and decided to give one of them a try. The list can be found here, if you're interested. 

We picked Salted Caramel Cafe. I took a bus directly from my house and according to gothere.sg, they said I had to stop 23 bus stops later. After the 5th bus stop, I lost count! But basically, you just have to drop at the bus stop after Thompson Plaza. 

Viv took the circle line and she ended up getting lost because there were road works going on. We both agreed that we don't have the best sense of direction nor sense of punctuality. We were supposed to meet at 2pm and ended up meeting close to 4pm. LOL.

Anyway, there were quite a number of ice cream flavours to choose from.

I fell in love at the ripe young age of 17. Not the “let’s hold hands down the hallway so our friends see” type of love. It was more like the “oh shit, I think this is the real thing” type of love. Being 17 years old, there were certain things I knew and certain things I didn’t. I knew I was in love. I also knew there were things I had to see and experience for myself in order to grow as a person and be certain of MYSELF, not my love for the person I was dating at the time.

So, I went my own way for a while and did the things I felt like I needed to do in order to prepare myself for a more long-term relationship.

I’ll pause here.

“Oh, she just wants to make sure there’s nothing better out there and then come running back to you when she finds out there’s not.”

Not the case. Not the truth. For some, it may be. But for me, it wasn’t. I was terrified of the way I felt. I knew I loved this person on a whole different level, and I wanted to experience what I needed to experience and allow myself to grow and change so that when I was more ready to embark on that long-term commitment, I was 1000% sure. When it’s for real, it’s forever.

The moral of the story: We are in the prime of our lives. We are figuring ourselves out. We are falling and getting back up and making mistakes and LEARNING. There is a difference between a person who is learning and a person who is just playing games, don’t get me wrong. You have to have the ability and intuition to be able to tell the difference.

It breaks my heart when I hear people get written off for learning and growing. This is something that should be encouraged and understood, because even if you’re not going through it at the time, I’m sure there was a point where you had to do things for yourself to figure out what you needed and wanted. This does not make anybody a bad person. It simply makes them human. If you fall in love young, you HAVE to understand that you’re both going to go through a lot of stuff to figure out how to be the person you want to be. If you’re still standing together at the end of the day after all that…I think that’s what true love is really about; being there and understanding, not pointing fingers and walking away. Taking space to go on this journey is okay.

There’s nothing wrong with it. And, well…if it comes back to you, it’s yours to keep.

The sad truth is that,

Waiting for this Natalie Lee and Iris Tan to meet me for brunch/lunch/tea at the National Museum and I'm wandering around aimlessly so I thought I'd update this space.

Last night, I went for Viv's 21st at Aloha Loyang.

Ohmahwerd that place is so difficult to get to! At first I alighted at Downtown East because I thought it was there. 

WRONG!

Had to take the bus further and I ended up alighting at the wrong bus stop. I felt so sweaty and sticky by the time I arrived ):

Anyway, the chalet was pretty nice, clean and huge, in my opinion. Much better than those dirty ones at Changi.

Her party was Unicorn and Rainbow themed but I didn't have any colourful clothes so yeah, hehehehe.

It was fun watching Viv get drunk also. She went crayyyyy. I just can't describe it but she's a funny drunk. 

Anyway, didn't wanna take a bus home so I shared a cab with Venetia because she was planning on leaving around the same time as me and her house is on the way to mine.

HELLO! I know this is super late for a June Favourites post but oh well, here it is! (:

I've purchased a bit of makeup products because I wanted to try new stuff and had also run out of old stuff and . . . it's good to update my makeup routine.


1) MAKEUP FOREVER HD STARTER KIT

All I'm saying is, I would slap myself if this product didn't make it to my Favourites list, because I spent over $100 on it. This has been my biggest amount I've ever spent on a make up product. And I thought it was pretty worth it, firstly because it was Makeup Forever. Secondly, because it comes with a primer, foundation and powder. 3 products for that price seems pretty reasonable to me.

I bought it after a lot of contemplation and research and decided to get it because so many YouTubes have raved about it. I find that it has a medium coverage, which is pretty good in my opinion. If I'm lazy, I find that my skin actually looks pretty fine without using a concealer. I just use the primer, foundation and powder and I'm good to go.

For the foundation, I'm using the shade N125. I asked the Sephora Sales Assistant to help me because I am clueless about finding my shade. He said that my face had a pinkish tone and my neck was yellowish so he recommended me to get a yellowish tone so that it would match, I guess.

2) BENEFIT COSMETICS IT'S REAL! MASCARA


This is my new favourite mascara! I purchased a smaller sized one at Sephora because I wanted to test it out. It extends my lashes so much! And the best part is that it looks so natural!

I will definitely purchase the normal sized one once I finish my small tube.

3) STILA WATERPROOF LIQUID EYELINER


This is a pretty good eyeliner that creates precise lines on my eyes. I also love the intensity of the black and how easy it glides on my eyes.

My one complaint is that it is NOT waterproof. I used it to Adventure Cove and within an less than an hour of water activities, I looked like an escaped panda.

I was so disappointed. Especially since I believed the sales assistant when he told me he used it at the gym for 4 hours and it didn't budge. I wore it to the gym and it smudged within half an hour *rage*.

According to Nat though, Stila's Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner is indeed waterproof so I guess I'll have to try that out for myself.

4) DAISO EYEBROW PENCIL

Don't underestimate the power of a $2 product. Since I feel that eyebrows are the least of my worries, I've never had the urge to spend so much on a branded brow kit. And there definitely isn't such a thing as brow cancer right?

This is my 3rd Daiso eyebrow pencil so far and the 2nd for this specific one.

5) PANDORA

I've wanted a Pandora bracelet for quite some time but was never willing to buy one myself even when I had the money because I thought it would be more meaningful to receive it as a gift.

I finally received it for my 21st birthday with a lock and key charm from my aunt, uncle, cousin and her husband.

Then last month, Matt added 2 more charms for my bracelet. He added a Fairy and a Cupcake charm. So pretty!

Gonna buy some more charms though. My bracelet still feels extremely empty with only 3 charms /:

6) EXERCISE

I've exercised and gone to the gym quite a bit in the month of June. I mostly went for classes though. I only worked out with Matt sometimes, when he wasn't busy with work.

I've mostly attended Spin, Body Pump, Body Combat and Yoga classes.

7) SKINNYMINT

Finally finished my (failed) SkinnyMint journey. I did start liking it after awhile because I would drink before going to the gym, so that helped a bit. And it did make me lose a bit of tummy.

8) TFIOS MOVIE

I had won a pair of tickets to catch TFIOS premiere and I couldn't find anyone to go with me so I ended up going alone.

What I like about the movie is that they didn't stray far from the movie like most other movies based on books and I guess it helped that John Green was on set all the time. 

Not sure if it's still showing in cinemas but go catch it if you can! Or buy the DVD when it comes out.

Anorexia and bulimia are words which I find very disgusting. 

I've been skinny my whole life, been severely underweight ever since they started to check height and weight in Primary 1. I've followed the nurses' orders and drunk milk every single day without fail but, I still couldn't gain weight or have an acceptable weight. It's not even my fault. It's not like I eat very little either. I guess it's just in my genes and I have a high metabolism.

My family know about my problem with gaining weight. Heck, even my siblings have been underweight last time. So they don't comment about my being underweight. However, outsiders don't give a fuck.

I hate it when outsiders look at me and comment about how extremely thin I am. And some even say I'm anorexic. To me, that's an insult. I do not binge eat, throw up, exercise excessively nor starve myself, etc. 

And by the way, I really am not that skinny anymore. Ever since I left secondary school, I've stopped exercising and hence, I've grown a tummy (which you can see in my SkinnyMint post). I've also joined a gym in my effort to be healthy because I have not exercised since I was 16 years old. It's not that I gym to lose weight or anything. I join to improve my cardiovascular system, to be healthy so that I stop falling sick so easily and I really want to get toned and gain muscles. I mostly go for Spin class, various types of yoga, Body Combat (I need to learn to defend myself, man) and Body Pump (which I really love and am starting to see the effects on my arms). 

I am not so hardcore whereby I hit the gym every single day, every single week. I try to go at least 3-4 times a week, so that I do not waste my money. 

So yeah, I really hope people watch their mouth. Just because a person is naturally skinny, it does not mean they are anorexic or bulimic. Please learn to educate yourself.
